What is Wiggle?
Location-based phone profiles

Wiggle is an application for Google's Android OS that allows you to set phone profiles based on the wireless networks in range. You do not need to be connected to a network in order for your profile to be applied, all you have to do is be "in-range".

How Does It Work?

Wiggle uses your phone's Wireless to detect networks in range, as well as networks that you have connected to in the past. When you start the application for the first time, you are presented with a list of "Remembered" networks and "Available" networks. A third option "Connected" will also appear if you are currently connected to any network. "Remembered" networks are those networks that you've previously connected to and are currently saved on your phone. "Available" networks are those networks that are currently in range.

You will also notice at the very top of the list a starred option called "My Profile". In here you will set your default profile settings, meaning, the profile settings that will be applied whenever none of the other configured profiles are in range. Wiggle does not require you to set a default profile; however, it will come in handy when you would like to revert back any option applied by a previous network profile.

Available networks are not static, meaning they will be listed only when their signal is in range. In order to "Remember" or save a network, simply long-press the network and select "Add Network". Likewise, if your intention is to remove a remembered network from Wiggle, simply long-press the network and select "Remove Network".

Setting Up Profiles

To set up a profile, click on your desired network or long-press it and select "Profile for...", this will take you to the new profile screen where you will be able to set differnet options. The profile screen has all the options available for you to change. A long-press on any of the options will prompt you to set a value for it; on the other hand, a short-click will toggle the setting ON or OFF.

The checkbox to the right of the option indicates its status. A checked checkbox means that the option will be triggered as soon as the wireless network for this profile is detected. An unchecked checkbox means the option is disabled and won't be triggered next time the network is in range.

To reset profile options on any network, simply press your Menu button and then click on "Reset Profile". A dialog alert will prompt you to confirm your choice and it will then reset all of your profile settings.

Menu Options

Access Wiggle's menu options by pressing your Menu button on the main screen. In here you will find the list of available menu options and their function:

• Add Network: This option will allow you to manually input the name or SSID of a network, allowing you to configure a profile without the network having to be in-range.

• Disable / Enable Monitor: This option allows you to turn the background monitor service ON or OFF. By default, the monitor service is enabled and running, even if your phone is restarted.

• Settings: This menu option will take you to the settings page where you will be able to configure a number of options for Wiggle, such as status bar notifications and network detection frequency.

Refresh: Refresh the list of remembered and available networks using this menu option.

• Find Wi-Fi : This option will open up a new web view where you will be able to use JiWire's Wi-Fi Find service. Use this option if you would like to search for free open networks around your area.

• Help : This option will open up a new browser window and launch the Instrutions page where you can find information on how to use Wiggle.

Settings Page

Wiggle's setting page allows you to set status bar notifications and also the network detection frequency. Status bar notifications are ON by default and will show a message in the status bar followed by a short vibrate to indicate that a profile has been applied. The network detection frequency or NDF allows you to set how often should Wiggle search for new wireless networks in range. By default, Wiggle will perform a scan every 30 seconds; however, you may increase the NDF to preserve more battery life.
